About the

SOUTH AFRICAN FLOWER GROWERS ASSOCIATION

The South African Flower Growers Association (SAFGA) was founded in the late 1940s as the South African Bulbs Growers Association and handled non-indigenous cut flowers, such as roses, lilies, and chrysanthemums. SAFGA is an organisation of flower growers, exporters, and suppliers to the cut flower industry. The association is situated in Gauteng.

Currently, grower’s and exporter’s memberships are 38 and suppliers and other association memberships are 23. This gives us 61 active members from different farms and organisations. SAFGA members are actively attending workshops and events SAFGA offer throughout the year. These meetings are well attended, which is an indication that the SAFGA organization is important to the Cut Flower industry.

Most of the country’s under cover flower farming companies are situated in Gauteng. The O.R. Tambo International Airport is the main point for exports to Europe and its favourable location saves money on transportation.

SAFGA organises technical info sessions, grower days and attendance of international trade shows. For more information, please contact info@safga.co.za.
